Starting from Square One: Sensory

jolene278's picture

I took a workshop in 3 Colors of Your Spirituality at a church convocation this month. Initially, I thought I was fairly comfortable in my native style (sensory) and open to other styles. Perhaps I am, but what I realized as I read the book was that I feel that I could use some work on my foundation (prayer and worship, learning from scripture, etc.) and sink into that this Lent. I think I am in need of the intensification of Level A growth right now.

Prayers welcome! :)

Me, too!

I came to the site for the first time today, for exactly the same reasons as Jolene. I read the post quickly and wondered if I had been here before and forgotten about it--it seemed so much like me.

My native style is also sensory. Reflecting on an Ash Wednesday service last evening, I concluded that I need to do what Jolene is doing during Lent, too. So here goes!

I'm with you (from the other side of the world)

Hi Jolene

Thanks for the encouragement that comes through in your post. It is always so refreshing to read about anyone who (like Jesus) seeks to be a great learner. With Easter on its way, I've just changed my 28 Days of Discipline subscription on this site over to the Scripture-driven style since the Rational / Sensory corner of the spiritual compass is a comfortable zone for me. It always makes me smile to know that other Christians on the other side of the world are experiencing and being stretched by things similar to myself. Makes you believe that there is clearly more than the core of the Earth at the centre between us all.

Blessings (and prayer just now) for you.

Companions on the way

AJ -

It never ceases to amaze me how God gives us companions on the way (even if they are around the world!). I'm early in the 28 Days for sensory, so I'll be giving it a go through Lent (and maybe a for a second go-around too...repetition of content to draw me deeper into God.

Have a blessed Lenten journey!

Jolene
